Deloitte and ParalympicsGB launch immersive digital experience ahead of Paris 2024

01 May 2024

As momentum builds towards the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, ParalympicsGB has teamed up with Deloitte to launch Mindscape, an immersive digital experience designed to provide a unique insight into what it takes for Paralympians to succeed both on and off the field of play.
Deloitte has developed the interactive platform using new technologies to connect with a wider audience and shine a light on the challenges faced by disabled people, including Paralympians, in their everyday lives.

Mindscape takes users on a journey, completing tasks and collecting rewards as they in turn learn more about the challenges around accessibility and the lived experience of disabled people. With insights into themes of resilience, inclusion and allyship, the user’s avatar reveals not only what it means to be a Paralympian competing on the world stage, but a disabled person in Great Britain today.

Users can access the Mindscape platform via ParalympicsGB website. An audio described version of the experience will also be available.

ParalympicsGB’s Chief Executive Officer David Clarke said:

“Paris 2024 is an opportunity for ParalympicsGB to make a real impact, on and off the field of play. In developing Mindscape, Deloitte has been able to bring to life the lived experiences of disabled people through the lens of a Paralympian. The overarching theme of allyship and their determination to create an accessible digital experience demonstrates the shared values in our partnership. The breadth of expertise which Deloitte has been able to provide ParalympicsGB has been beneficial to us as an organisation and helping us to continue to break down barriers for disabled people throughout the UK.”

Mark Lillie, partner and UK sports industry lead, commented:

“Technology can have a huge impact on the way people engage with sport, whether spectating or playing. From adaptive equipment to virtual reality training programmes and immersive storytelling experiences, technology is working to level the playing field to make sport more accessible and inclusive than ever. As Paris 2024 approaches, we are looking forward to seeing how our Mindscape platform can help to change how people perceive the experience of Paralympians and increase the visibility of disabled people.”

As Official Digital Transformation Partner, Deloitte will support ParalympicsGB’s ambitions set out in its 10-year strategy Championing Change, providing expertise and innovation as ParalympicsGB seeks to influence positive social change.

In the build up to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, Deloitte and ParalympicsGB have focused on developing and delivering projects that positively influence social change and make a real impact. The Mindscape digital experience is just one of a number of areas in which Deloitte has supported ParalympicsGB so far. In addition to this and in the digital space, ParalympicsGB and Deloitte have worked closely to develop a digital strategy which includes website development and implementation to improve fan and user experiences.

Lillie continued: “We have designed the Mindscape platform with 16 to 30 year-olds in mind, but it is accessible to all. Deloitte will continue to work closely with ParalympicsGB to shape and drive projects that contribute to ParalympicsGB’s mission of enabling world-leading performance at the Paralympic Games and to drive positive, sustainable change in UK society.”
