He has more than 25 years’ experience of advising ultra-high net worth individual and family office clients on complex personal tax matters.
Michael deals extensively with international issues, advising both (former) non-UK domiciliaries and non-UK residents on how to structure their family and business affairs, regularly working with non-UK resident trustees in the process. He has played a central role in Deloitte’s responses to legislative changes in this area over the last 10 years, regularly attending meetings with HM Treasury and HMRC as a result.
Michael also regularly advises management teams and shareholders of private companies in relation to the personal tax implications of commercial transactions, such as trade sales and private-equity backed buy-outs, as well as then advising on appropriate personal structuring for the wealth created as a result.
Michael is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and is included in ePrivateClient’s list of 50 Most Influential UK private client advisers and Spear’s Tax and Trust Index as a Top Recommended Tax Adviser for 2025.
