Evidence of Whakapapa is considered your (the applicant’s) sensitive information, however, it may also be the sensitive information of the person(s) signing (verifying/endorsing) the Whakapapa. We will also collect, use and store their personal and sensitive information when you submit your completed application.
When completing a grant application, you and those persons helping you are authorising the collection, use and sharing of any personal information collected for the purposes as set out below and in the privacy notices provided. Your personal and sensitive information will be shared with the relevant Trust(s) to which you have applied for a grant or scholarship. We may also use personal and sensitive information collected for one grant or scholarship, including evidence of Whakapapa, with the relevant Trusts for any other or future grants or scholarships you may apply to, or are eligible to receive. At times, limited personal information may be shared/discussed with your Educational Provider or Institution to confirm your enrolment.
The Trusts are also working with the Maori Education Trust (MET) to provide additional grant funding. If your application to the Trust(s) is successful, we will also provide relevant personal information to the MET to enable their additional funding to be provided.
We are also required by law to advise the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) of any taxable grant/scholarship paid to you. We will collect and share your IRD number and personal information with them. More information about how the IRD will handle your personal information can be found in their Privacy Policy here.
