Even though the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) generally does not apply to public organizations, many are still engaged in sustainability reporting. Deloitte conducts annual research on the current state of affairs. For public organisations, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is not mandatory. Despite this, Oscar Ferrero Scholte and Leon Stokman, both Senior Managers at Deloitte Audit & Assurance, assert that dual materiality analysis is an effective tool for organizations to understand their sustainability impacts, opportunities, and risks.

At some point, every public institution will have to deal with requirements regarding sustainability and transparency. That’s why Deloitte created an ESG Quickscan and analyzed how 60 major public sector organizations report their sustainability efforts. Alongside the Integral Care Agreement (IZA) and Green Deal 3.0 for healthcare, efforts have also been made at the European level to mandate organizations to get started with sustainability.
