Board governance and leadership, which was once within the purview of CEOs, is now being redefined, what with boards taking on a more active role.
Regulators, investors, and employees are pressing boards to deliver their responsibilities. There are some decisions that only boards can take, such as determining a company’s central idea, risk appetite, and capital structure, to name a few. A board’s leadership or the lack of it can create or destroy value respectively.
One of the ways to check the board’s progress against its plans and visions is to conduct a board evaluation. We, at Deloitte India Risk Advisory, have created a Deloitte Governance Framework. This is an overarching corporate-governance framework which guides the overall process as well as parameters of board evaluation.
