My name is Zoe Heffernan, and I am an analyst on Deloitte’s Technology &
Transformation Graduate Programme, working in the Salesforce practice within
Customer, Deloitte Digital in Dublin. I graduated with First-Class Honours in Digital Humanities and Information Technology, with a minor in philosophy, from University College Cork (UCC).
During my degree, I spent a year abroad in Leipzig, Germany through the Erasmus programme, studying computer science and digital humanities modules. This experience offered a lot of personal growth, travel opportunities, and exposure to new perspectives. Which are skills that continue to benefit me in my graduate role today.
Since joining Deloitte in September 2025, I’ve been fully immersed in the Salesforce practice, contributing to client projects and developing both technical and consulting skills.
I loved my undergraduate degree because it focused on both technology and its impact. I wanted a career path that would allow me to continue exploring this intersection. Deloitte’s Technology & Transformation Graduate Programme immediately stood out because it focuses on growing and evolving alongside technology, helping organisations innovate and transform in meaningful ways.
It’s the opportunities, people, and learning environment that make Deloitte such an incredible place to start your career.
The programme provides a supportive environment to learn, grow, and thrive, with access to professional development and accredited certifications, for me, this includes Salesforce certifications.
The support and mentorship at Deloitte has been invaluable. I regularly check in with my Coach and Buddy, and there’s a strong emphasis on connection, collaboration, and continuous learning. Beyond project teams, Deloitte encourages engagement through clubs, networks, and initiatives, such as the Deloitte Book Club, these are a great way to connect with colleagues across the business.
Starting with a cohort of peers makes a huge difference. From coffee breaks to collaborating on projects, having colleagues to connect with creates a welcoming work environment and makes settling into a new city much easier.
One of the aspects I most enjoy about Deloitte is the variety of experiences beyond day-to-day project work, which help me grow professionally and personally.
Some highlights so far include:
Killashee Castle induction case study: During our two-week induction, we completed a case study and presented to a panel of partners. Our group reached the final, which was a fantastic way to develop presentation, teamwork, and consulting skills.
Shine a Light Sleep Out: Over 70 colleagues participated in this initiative where we braved the elements to sleep out against homelessness in Deloitte’s carpark overnight for Focus Irelands’ shine a light night. Raising vital funds for families and children experiencing homelessness. Deloitte Ireland collectively raised nearly €50k!
Christmas Analyst Challenge: Every year analysts take part in this challenge to fundraise 15k for three charities within a week. Our cohort raised over €20k for Good Shepherd Cork, Focus Ireland, and Sofia. I was a part of the central fundraising team where we organised fundraising bake sales, headshots, raffles, and pub quizzes, and at the end we all hosted Christmas parties for charity beneficiaries.
Internal meetups and hackathons: As part of Deloitte Digital and the Salesforce practice, there are regular opportunities to connect through practice meetups, cross-team events and hackathons
Winter Connect: This was another highlight as people came together from across the firm to celebrate the end of a busy year. Held at the Guinness Storehouse for the Dublin office, it was a great way to connect with fellow graduates and colleagues. These experiences, social events and networking opportunities are all invaluable as they allow graduates to develop core skills and contribute to meaningful initiatives.
I’m currently working on a project that broadens my technical skills, giving exposure to Salesforce tools while working with a talented team. The role strengthens hard skills like technical expertise, analysis, and project delivery, as well as soft skills including teamwork, communication, and consulting methodology.
There’re great opportunities to learn from talented colleagues and grow in a supportive environment.
Originally from Tipperary, I studied in Cork and moved to Dublin for this role. While settling into a new city felt daunting at first, the cohort support and welcoming culture made the transition seamless. Nearly six months in, I love living and working in Dublin, and the friendships and professional networks I’ve built make it a truly enjoyable experience.
Don’t let moving to a new city intimidate you, the support and opportunities make it easier than you think.
The Deloitte Graduate Programme provides an excellent balance of hard and soft skills development. Every aspect of the programme encourages graduates to learn, adapt, and grow, providing a strong foundation for a career in consulting.
The Deloitte Graduate Programme offers endless opportunities, from professional development and certifications to client work, volunteering, and social events. Every day is a chance to learn, connect, and grow.
My advice for future graduates is to be curious, be yourself, and get involved. Make the most of every opportunity and have fun along the way!
An Exceptional Graduate Experience
