Deloitte Ireland appoints eight new partners

Harry Goddard begins term as CEO of Deloitte Ireland

Deloitte Ireland has appointed eight new partners across its business. Yvonne Byrne, Ciaran McGovern and Ruairí Mitchell have become partners in the Consulting practice; Matthew Dolan and Vincent McCullagh are partners in the tax practice; Brian Fennelly is now a partner in the Financial Advisory practice; John Kehoe is a partner in Audit & Assurance and Laura Wadding has become a partner in the Risk Advisory practice.

Harry Goddard, who commenced his term as CEO of Deloitte Ireland at the start of June commented:

It’s a privilege to be leading this business and I’m delighted that my first announcement as CEO is the celebration of these partner appointments, which reflect the breadth of services that we provide to our clients. It’s a time of great change, with a volatile global economic landscape, technological disruption and regulatory scrutiny facing many of our clients. I am confident that our new partners will support them as they look to drive their businesses forward and capitalise on the opportunities that do exist in the current landscape.

Goddard succeeds Brendan Jennings as CEO of Deloitte Ireland. Previously head of the Consulting practice at Deloitte, he has over 20 years’ experience in the professional services and consulting industries.

Yvonne Byrne

Yvonne Byrne is a consulting partner in Deloitte Digital, specialising in providing customer experience and digital transformation to the financial services sector. She has over 17 years of experience working with leading FS institutions in the UK and Ireland. With expertise including customer-centred proposition design, digital strategy development and end-to-end business transformation design and implementation, Yvonne supports clients to become customer-centric and digitally led.

Yvonne holds a Masters in Business Studies and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the National University of Ireland, Galway.

Matthew Dolan

Matthew Dolan is a tax partner, specialising in financial services. Matthew has spent his career advising FS clients, with a particular focus on aircraft leasing, securitisation, asset management and private equity clients.

Matthew holds a Masters in Accounting and a BA in Accounting from Dublin City University. He is a fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland and an associate member of the Irish Taxation Institute.

Brian Fennelly

Brian is a financial advisory partner in our Debt & Capital Advisory team, where he specialises in providing capital structure advice and debt capital raising services to small and medium sized enterprises, large corporates, publicly listed entities and private equity sponsors. Before joining Deloitte in 2016, Brian worked for over sixteen years with leading institutions in the global banking, structured finance and investment industry. He has extensive experience advising, structuring and financing growth capital solutions for clients in Ireland, the UK, continental Europe and the USA.

Brian holds a Bachelor of Business Studies degree from Dublin City University, is an affiliate of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and a Qualified Financial Advisor.

John Kehoe

John is a partner in Audit & Assurance, within the Consumer & Technology Business team. He has over 14 years of experience, providing audit and advisory services to a wide range of business sectors, including the technology, retail, manufacturing and travel industries. His portfolio consists primarily of publicly listed companies and subsidiaries of large multinational clients. John deals with a wide variety of accounting frameworks including IFRS, Irish and US GAAP, and has detailed knowledge of accounting issues relating to software revenue recognition and complex group reorganisations.

John holds a Bachelor in International Commerce degree from UCD and a Masters of Accounting degree from the Michael Smurfit School of Business at UCD. He is a fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Vincent McCullagh

Vinny is an indirect tax partner in the Tax practice. He has 20 years of experience in indirect tax working in both Ireland and the UK, advising companies across all sectors. Throughout his career, he has had a particular focus on assisting multinationals meet their multi-jurisdictional compliance obligations, as well as advising clients in the financial services sector. Vinny has been nominated as one of the UK’s leading indirect tax advisers for the previous 4 years.

Vinny holds a law degree and is a chartered tax adviser. He speaks regularly on indirect tax matters in Ireland and the UK. He is the author of ‘VAT on Property’, the leading guide to VAT on property transactions in Ireland.

Ciaran McGovern

Ciaran is a consulting partner specialising in the provision of transformational change services to clients within financial services. Having worked within industry and consulting, Ciaran has over 18 years of experience supporting business leaders to solve complex challenges in the areas of risk and regulatory, cost, and operations.

Ciaran holds an MSc in Management and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, both from the University of Ulster.

Ruairí Mitchell

Ruairí is a consulting partner in Deloitte’s Customer & Marketing portfolio, where he leads the digital customer offering. With over 19 years of experience in a variety of product and technology roles, Ruairí has held roles in both industry and practice. Specialising in large-scale digital product delivery and multi-disciplinary digital factory teams, Ruairí focuses on the private sector, specifically life sciences.

Ruairí holds a BSc in Management from DIT and a postgraduate diploma in Information Technology from DCU.

Laura Wadding

Laura is a partner in Deloitte Ireland’s Risk Advisory practice, where she specialises in helping clients to manage their regulatory risk. She has 24 years of experience in financial services and has been at the forefront of regulatory developments in the industry. Laura has extensive experience in a range of regulatory areas such as anti-money laundering, client assets, outsourcing, governance and conduct risk.

Laura holds a degree in Law and a Professional Diploma in Financial Services Compliance.

Overall, Deloitte North West Europe has promoted 161 people to partner. This month also sees central Mediterranean countries Greece, Italy and Malta join the existing Deloitte North West Europe partnership (Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK) to form Deloitte North and South Europe (NSE) from 1 June. Deloitte NSE is now the second largest member firm in the Deloitte network, with over 45,000 people in 13 countries.
