Donal is a Director in the Deloitte Indirect Tax group with expertise in VAT on property transactions. He has considerable experience in VAT consultancy and planning, at both domestic and international levels, including a period spent with Deloitte in Australia. He worked with the Revenue Commissioners, leaving to qualify as a solicitor. After a number of years in practice, having gained experience in commercial and property law, he specialised in VAT law. Donal advises a wide range of private and large corporate clients and public bodies. Donal is a member of Deloitte’s Real Estate and Infrastructure team and had advised on a number of real estate, infrastructure and investment transactions.
Donal is listed as one of Ireland’s Indirect Tax Leaders in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 by the International Tax Review. He is a member of the Law Society of Ireland’s Taxation Committee and Irish Government’s Tax Administration Liaison Indirect Tax Committee. Donal is a published author, having written ‘VAT on Property’, published by the Irish Taxation Institute. In addition, Donal lectures and tutors on VAT to The Law Society of Ireland and the Irish Tax Institute.
