Helen Porter is a business-focused lawyer, with over 15 years’ experience across in-house legal and M&A advisory roles. She has worked in-house at a FTSE 100 company, as business counsel supporting the European aviation organization and as an M&A Associate at an international law firm. Since joining Deloitte Legal in 2019, Helen has helped develop Deloitte’s differentiated legal offering, working closely with other service lines to deliver integrated support for clients navigating complex M&A change.
Helen is particularly experienced in supporting legal and associated functions through significant corporate change events, working closely with other teams across Legal and Deloitte. Having worked as an in-house lawyer and with her M&A legal transaction background, Helen provides differentiated legal workstream coaching, transaction support and wider project co-ordination, legal Day 1 readiness and plan implementation, functional integration, contract review and re-papering programs. Through her leadership of the CLO Assist service, she brings a pragmatic, business-focused style to clients across a number of industries, combining lived in-house experience with commercial-focused M&A advisory, project discipline and collaborative stakeholder management.
The services offered through CLO Assist can be tailored to operate as a seamless extension of the in-house legal team during change events, such as separations or acquisitions. This includes providing SME legal workstream project planning, management and coaching, stakeholder communication, reporting, dependency alignment and escalation management, so teams can focus on strategic legal work.
Helen’s work is also closely aligned to Deloitte’s Chief Legal Officer Programme, which helps legal leaders increase their value to the business through interconnected development and networking programs that build leadership and business skills, networks and influence. As UK CLO Programme Lead and trained Transition Lab Facilitator, Helen helps connect CLOs, GCs and future legal leaders with practical experiences across business challenges and opportunities for in-house client legal teams, the legal leadership career lifecycle and professional growth.
