Brian is Deloitte's Global Risk Advisory Power, Utilities & Renewables sector leader, delivering services which meet our clients need across the full spectrum of risk (including cyber, financial, audit, forensic, regulatory & operational, and strategic & reputational risks). Brian additionally advises our U.S. Commodities Trading Risk Management (CTRM) practice in the U.S., focused on end-to-end trading and transacting risk management solutions. Brian has experience with energy trading and risk management issues and managing consultative projects and audit services delivered to integrated energy companies. Brian has significant experience in implementing derivative accounting (IFRS and US GAAP) rules for commodities companies and other corporates exposed to significant commodity price risk.

After starting his career in Houston, Brian spent four years in Europe (Amsterdam, London) and now lives in New York. His international experience included focus on IFRS and its implications on energy companies, serving as a thought leader around IFRS for the UK Firm and throughout Deloitte’s European energy practices. Brian frequently worked with Deloitte’s Global IFRS Centre of Excellence in London and directly with energy client engagement teams serving our largest attest and relationship clients in Europe as he assisted them in interpreting and applying IFRS to client-specific situations for many global organizations.

Brian has served companies across the physical commodities markets, including power, natural gas, oil and oil products, coal, renewable energy (biofuels, wind and solar generation, emission allowances), agriculturals (including grains, sugar, coffee), and metals (base and precious). He is a Certified Public Accountant in Texas, New Jersey and New York.
