“Be a disruptor.”

Sebastiaan’s legal career has always been defined by change. Over the past 15 years, he’s worked at the intersection of data, cyber, cloud, and AI law—fields that seem to reinvent themselves every few years. Early on, he saw firsthand how legal frameworks could struggle to keep pace with technological innovation. That challenge became his motivation.

For more than a decade, Sebastiaan led global legal advisory and compliance for a major international insurance and asset management company. There, he learned the importance of connecting legal advice to real business needs, that you can’t just know the law, you have to understand the business and the people behind it.

Today, Sebastiaan’s work centers on data privacy, cybersecurity, AI, and IT contracting. He and his team collaborate closely with C-suite executives, helping them navigate new regulations and build solutions for emerging risks. Rather than simply reacting to changes, Sebastiaan is focused on helping clients shape their own strategies for intangible assets and digital transformation.

What sets his approach apart is a commitment to integration—bringing together legal, technical, and business perspectives. Sebastiaan believes that effective legal advice starts with understanding how a client’s products and governance work, especially when implementing complex regulations, like the EU’s AI Act. That’s why Sebastiaan encourages a mindset of curiosity, adaptability—and helpful disruption. “The legal function is evolving quickly,” he says. “If you’re willing to embrace change, you can help shape the future.”
