Meet Kevin Westcott

Deloitte Global Sector Leader for Telecom, Media & Entertainment

The Faces of Deloitte Technology, Media & Telecom (TMT) is a series of articles exploring the personal histories of Deloitte people, sharing experiences that have defined their values, and highlighting why they do what they do. In this story, learn how Deloitte invested in Kevin’s vision for long-term growth.

It’s not surprising that Kevin Westcott moonlights as a race car driver. As the Deloitte Global Sector leader for Telecom, Media & Entertainment, and Sports, Kevin guides Deloitte firms to help clients keep up with the fast pace of change within the sector—and he’s accelerated the growth of several industry areas across the Deloitte network.

Before joining Deloitte Consulting in the United States in 2008, Kevin spent 19 years with a competitor. He was drawn to Deloitte’s collaborative culture and willingness to invest in long-term growth. Deloitte supported his efforts to build up the Telecom, Media & Entertainment group, beginning with hiring people who had strong relationships and skills in entertainment. After years of work, the group has now grown by 10 times its original size.

Kevin also found the time and energy to build a sports group. About 10 years ago, he noticed that Deloitte talent around the globe were working on sports engagements, but it was not centralized. He wanted to better serve the industry by commissioning a global sports group. Once he received support from Deloitte leaders across the globe, he began building a team of talented, experienced executives in the field. As the group grew, Deloitte’s capabilities were introduced to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

In August 2024, the IOC announced that Deloitte will take on the role of Games Technology Integration Partner for the Olympic Winter Games Milano-Cortina 2026 through to the Olympic Games Brisbane 2032. “Deloitte will help deliver the Olympics by leading the technological transformation of the Olympic Games,” Kevin says. “Deloitte will continue to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Olympics operations.”

Kevin is also deeply invested in training and developing talent internally—and he’s especially proud of his record of mentoring the next generation of leaders. He has confidently moved from one position to another knowing he has left his previous role in capable and experienced hands.

Outside of the office, Kevin is working to improve educational outcomes. He’s been a director at City Year, Los Angeles, for 12 years. This organization works to reduce school dropout rates at the schools it serves. He also sits on three university boards, where he helps prepare graduate students for the next phases of their careers.

Then there’s Kevin’s enthusiasm for motorsports. He’s been driving race cars and competing across the US for over 20 years, and he still loves the thrill of racing. These days, though, he and his wife are focused on supporting their teenage daughter’s racing career. She’s just begun her rookie season as a FIA Formula 4 driver.

Why TMT?

Kevin, who’s based in Orange County in California, sold his first entertainment project in 1994. Since then, he’s advised many major studios, broadcasters, and gaming companies. Over his 30-year career, he’s witnessed the growing role of technology in the delivery of entertainment. “When I started working with the industry, technology was for the back office—it wasn’t integral to the entertainment,” he explains. “Now technology is entertainment.”

Kevin loves helping companies use technology to help fuel their growth. A career highlight has been working on some of the largest M&A transactions in the telecom, media and entertainment space—gaining  experience on changing trends in media consumption. He’s advised many of the large studios in the streaming business on their monetization strategy and—the latest trend—bundling multiple subscriptions.
