What did you like most about your role?

I enjoyed the learning and teaching opportunities.

What attracted you to Deloitte?

Accounting majors at my university were required to become members of Beta Alpha Psi, an international honors organization. As part of this organization, during the fall and spring semesters, we networked weekly with the large public accounting firms and private companies. Through this membership, in my junior year I secured summer internship offers from Deloitte Parsippany, New Jersey and another Big 4 firm in New Jersey that I had previously interned with in The Bahamas during the summers after my freshman and sophomore years. Ultimately the decision to accept the Deloitte internship offer was driven by the culture and the awesome recruiter. I remember a group of us being invited to dinner and we had the best time and conversation. During that summer internship I worked on a banking engagement in West Orange, NJ and continued to experience the culture that was displayed during the recruitment process. At the end of the internship I was offered and accepted full time employment with the firm upon graduation. I started with the Deloitte Parsippany, NJ office in August 2004. The team I worked with during my internship had scheduled me to work with them on another New Jersey banking engagement. The persons from that team were very instrumental in my development and continue to be mentors to me to this day.

Describe your role while serving at Deloitte

On a daily basis, I interacted with my staff, partners, administrative staff, and clients. I was also involved in preparing proposals for potential clients, facilitating training, and other regional initiatives.

What else were you involved with during your tenure at Deloitte?

I participated in the firm’s community service initiative (IMPACT Day), recruiting efforts, and training programs. As a trainer for The Bahamas office, I had the opportunity to travel to Spain and France. I was also a member of two CBC practice review teams, which allowed me to travel to Barbados and Trinidad.

How did Deloitte contribute towards your long term career goals?

My years at Deloitte gave me exposure to an array of accounting issues and cultures. These all continue to contribute to my professional development.

What did you enjoy most?

I enjoyed the relationships I was able to develop with clients and colleagues.
