With Deloitte’s Purpose to make an impact that matters for our clients, our people and our communities in mind, 25 Deloitte partners are embarking on a challenging 815km cycling journey to support three good causes: Donner des ailes, Pinocchio, and join2bike. Join them in making a difference!
Donner des ailes is an NGO established in September 2021 by parents determined to support people with Angelman syndrome—a rare genetic disorder affecting approximately one child in 16,000, characterised by severe intellectual and motor deficits, absence of oral language, epileptic seizures, and sleep disturbances. The association provides comprehensive support across medical, clinical, social, financial, educational, cultural, and psychological dimensions. Donner des ailes supports a natural history study conducted by the Centre of Reference for Neuromuscular Diseases in Liège under Professor Laurent Servais, helping advance clinical development of promising therapies and prepare for upcoming clinical trials. Beyond research, the organisation organises annual therapeutic webinars, family meetings, and participates in community events like the Brussels 20km race, where they achieved a first-place podium finish last year.
Pinocchio vzw is a national volunteer-run organisation established in 1997, based at the military hospital in Neder-over-Heembeek, dedicated to supporting children and young people with burn injuries and their families. Recognising that recovery is long and often lonely, Pinocchio provides comprehensive support during hospitalisation through volunteer companions, weekly clown visits, and toys to help children cope. The organisation also offers crucial financial assistance to parents for medical costs not covered by health insurance, and provides essential psychosocial support through specialised programmes including scar healing camps, re-integration camps, age-appropriate activities for teenagers, and festive celebrations. Entirely dependent on donations from individuals, service clubs, companies, and foundations, Pinocchio vzw demonstrates the power of community generosity in transforming the lives of vulnerable children during their most challenging moments.
join2bike vzw is an inclusive cycling club that brings together people with and without disabilities for weekly group rides, breaking down barriers and proving that cycling is for everyone. The organisation purchases and provides specially adapted bicycles—often extremely expensive—to club members, ensuring that financial constraints don't prevent anyone from participating in this life-changing activity. Members train together progressively towards major sporting events, building community and personal achievement. This year's sporting highlight is "Leuven, onbegrensd!" (Leuven, Unbounded!), a multi-day cycling event taking place from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 August 2026, featuring integration with Leuven's traffic-free city loop and professional cycling festival. Through join2bike, cycling becomes more than a sport—it becomes a pathway to inclusion, independence, and shared celebration of human potential.
