SMART Transportation Selection Framework

SMART TM is structured around two licensing tiers designed to match the operational complexity of your transportation network, with optional add-ons for organizations requiring extended carrier connectivity.

The Basic License covers the core transportation execution capabilities most shippers rely on day to day. It supports parcel shipping for standard small-package operations, LTL (Less than Truckload) for partial shipment management, and FTL (Full Truckload) for complete truckload transportation. On top of these shipment types, the Basic License enables manual carrier selection, giving users full control over which carrier handles each shipment, and includes standard charge calculation for freight cost computation.

The Advanced License includes everything in the Basic License and extends it with two capabilities built for organizations managing higher transportation volumes or more complex networks. Automatic carrier selection replaces manual decisions with rule-based logic that picks the optimal carrier for each shipment, while planning through the Transportation Optimizer enables consolidated, cost-efficient shipment planning across the network.

Beyond the standard licenses, two additions can be activated depending on parcel-related requirements. Parcel rate fetching connects SMART TM directly to carrier interfaces to retrieve real-time shipping rates, and label fetching automates the retrieval of shipping labels from the parcel carrier, removing manual steps from the parcel dispatch process.
