Sustainability & Climate

Our highly diverse and multidisciplinary team combines deep subject matter expertise, strategic thinking, data, and technology to meet the equally diverse and rapidly evolving needs of our clients. Our experience and expertise span Sustainability and ESG Strategy, Impact Measurement, Climate Risk, and Reporting across a range of local and global standards and frameworks, supporting complex and diverse reporting and advisory engagements for clients.

Degrees:   Environmental Science, Climate & Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Biodiversity and/or Accounting, Finance.  

Industrials and Infrastructure have grown larger, riskier, and more complex. Our team deeply understands our clients' challenges and the actions needed to keep pace with change.

Industrials

We focus on building Australia’s industrial capacity and capability more effectively. We do this by working directly within our clients’ value chains across infrastructure, asset-intensive industries, and manufacturing to improve operations, drive productivity, and create new industries of the future. Our primary market offerings are large-scale program and portfolio management, physical asset management, and climate and industrial technology.

  • Asset Management & Performance

Focusing on delivering optimal business performance design, process, and governance; data-enabled and collaborative delivery of complex asset programs; high-performance business outcomes; asset-centred operations to deliver more value from assets; and equally as important – a focus on people, culture and safety to bring it all together.

Degrees: Finance, Engineering, Sciences, Commerce, Business, International Relations or Government Policy.

  • Sustainability, Industrials & Technology

Our teams are centred on transforming businesses across sustainability, value chains, digital twins, asset management, strategy, and innovation. We aim to support the planet's energy transition, our local economy, and our people.     

Degrees:  Engineering, Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Commerce, Business, International Relations, Government Policy, IT, Computer Science or Data Science.


Infrastructure

We partner with public, private, and capital investment clients on infrastructure projects. We advise clients on incentivising public infrastructure investment, attracting private-sector participation, navigating infrastructure investment shortfalls, and shaping, managing, and maintaining construction projects to deliver transformative solutions. We also assess the feasibility and delivery strategy for new assets, manage stakeholders, and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.

  • Capital & Program Advisory

We provide clients with end-to-end support from program design through to delivery and long-term operational performance. We design and optimise programs for transformation and delivery by integrating strategic thinking, commercial awareness, and the latest AI-powered tools and digital solutions.

Degrees:  Finance, Engineering, Sciences, Commerce, Business, International Relations or Government Policy.

We combine deep industry insights with cutting-edge methods to help leaders make informed decisions, drive value, and create new opportunities for our clients.

  • Sustainability & Climate 

We advise clients on their Green Transition through sustainability-led strategies, mitigation, economic analysis, financial models, and adaptation techniques. We share insights on new climate opportunities and risks, and partner with clients to help them demonstrate trust through effective governance, transparent reporting, proactive anticipation and response to regulations, and stakeholder engagement.

Business Tax

Deloitte’s Business Tax (BT) team is a trusted advisor to some of  Australia’s largest and most complex businesses. Beyond just preparing tax returns, BT offers strategic advice to help clients navigate taxes across multiple jurisdictions and regulatory environments.  

The team focuses on both operational tax support and high-stakes transactions, solving problems that utilise skills in law, finance/commerce, and accounting.  

BT is structured into four main service lines: ASX/MNC (Corporate & International Tax), Transfer Pricing (TP), Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Tax and Financial Services Institutions (FSI) Tax. 

What will you get to do?

  • ASX/MNC (Corporate & International Tax) – Help large companies follow tax rules and plan ahead. 
  • Transfer Pricing – Ensure that the international branches of the same company charge each other fairly. 
  • M&A Tax – Advise on the tax side of major business deals. 
  • FSI Tax – Support financial institutions like banks and super funds with complex tax matters.

Private Tax & Advisory

We advise many of Australia’s most successful privately owned enterprises, high net-worth individuals and families, and not-for-profits. You’ll work across a wide range of advisory engagements, assisting with restructurings, transactions, intergenerational family planning, and compliance, including the preparation of financial statements and tax returns.

What will you get to do?

  • Be part of the best client service teams attending to our clients’ compliance and advisory requirements, including preparing financial statements, income tax returns and working files to support  
  • Collaborate with other specialist teams within the private market 
  • Assist with advisory engagements and accounting solutions 

Degrees:  Private Advisory - Accounting Business, Commerce.  Private Tax - Accounting, Business, Commerce, Law (combined with Accounting, Commerce or Business).


Global Employer Services

Through a global network of experts, we help employers navigate tax, technology, immigration, and mobility. We also help them cost-effectively transform global programs and leverage data analytics, digital insights, and other technologies to deliver tailored solutions.

What will you get to do?

  • Engage in client interactions addressing the Australian employee tax, employment tax and immigration implications of internationally mobile workers. 
  • Australian payroll advisory and payroll compliance services for domestic and cross-border employees. 
  • Assist clients in responding to regulator-initiated audits and reviews relating to matters such as underpayment of wages, primary tax obligations, compliance with immigration requirements and reporting of equity-based incentives. 
  • Work with global teams to solve complex problems for large multinational employers. 
  • Migration team: Law degree and Practical Legal Training (or, at a minimum, the coursework component) OR Graduate Diploma in Australian Migration Law and Practice and the associated Migration Agents Capstone Assessment.

Indirect Tax

We're specialists in a broad range of increasingly important indirect taxes, including GST, State Taxes, Global Trade and Advisory, Fuel Tax and Luxury Car Tax. We’re at the forefront of indirect tax policy, framing national conversations, and regularly and successfully leading litigation.

What will you get to do?

  • Work with a diverse team of accountants and lawyers to solve complex tax issues as a result of mergers and acquisitions, business reorganisations and evolving indirect tax legislative change within Australia and globally.
  • Assist clients in managing tax authority and government regulator audits and reviews.
  • Work with several Deloitte teams to develop tailored solutions that help clients with tax transformation, including outsourcing and technology adoption, to streamline compliance.

Research & Development (Gi³)

We're not your typical tax function. We're a diverse team of engineers, accountants, scientists, lawyers, and IP strategists. Our job is to help clients access incentives and grants. This includes identifying and communicating to the two entities that administer R&D tax incentives—ATO and the Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR) —industry-scale R&D projects on behalf of our clients.

What will you get to do?

  • Combine analytical and technical writing skills to identify R&D projects and draft a range of written documentation and financial deliverables.
  • Liaise with government bodies regarding grant and incentive opportunities for clients.
  • Collaborate with a variety of clients in diverse industries and attend client meetings with managing directors, CFOs, tax managers, heads of R&D, chief scientists, chief technology officers and other key decision-makers.
