Applying for a graduate role can feel daunting, especially at a firm as large and diverse as Deloitte. With so many teams, pathways, and opportunities available, knowing where to start and how to approach your application can make a big difference.
Read on to learn what some of our recent Graduates recommend, and get ready to put your best foot forward when you apply.
Deloitte offers a wide range of career pathways, often more than students initially realise!
Before applying, it’s worth taking the time to explore the different teams, industries, and skills across the firm – you never know where you might find the perfect fit.
Looking beyond job titles and understanding what different teams focus on day to day can help you identify opportunities that align with your interests, even if they’re not the most obvious choice at first.
Thy Douglas successfully secured a Graduate role in 2025. Her advice? Make sure you dig a little deeper before applying.
"Take the time to really research the work that specific teams do and how your interests, passions and skills could add value."
Thy Douglas | Strategy, Risk & Transactions Consultant
Many of our graduates say this early research helped them feel more confident in their applications and clearer about why Deloitte was the right fit for them.

It can be tempting to mass-apply to roles, especially if you’re multi passionate and eager to secure a role with us. But rather than applying everywhere, graduates recommend being intentional about the teams you apply to and tailoring your CV to reflect your interests and experiences.
This could include highlighting relevant coursework, part-time work, internships, volunteering, or extracurricular activities that demonstrate skills aligned to the role. Clear, specific examples help recruiters understand what you bring and why you’re interested.
Being selective and tailored shows thoughtfulness and genuine interest, which can help your application stand out.
Our advice? Pick your top 2 roles and apply for no more than this.
3. Practise makes perfect
Preparation is key when it comes to interviews and assessments!
We suggest practising how you talk about your skills and experiences, particularly using structured approaches like the STAR technique.
The STAR technique is a simple framework to help you answer behavioural questions clearly and confidently:
Using STAR helps you stay focused, avoid rambling and clearly show the impact of your contribution. Thinking through examples ahead of time on where you’ve demonstrated teamwork, problem-solving, leadership, or adaptability can help you feel more confident and articulate on the day.
As you move through the application process, Deloitte’s Candidate Zone also offers resources and guidance to help you prepare and understand what to expect at each stage.
"Never be afraid to say what you’re good at. If you know you have a talent or skill, there’s always a place for you to shine at Deloitte.”
Oliver Southon | Strategy, Risk & Transactions Graduate
4. Be yourself!
One of the most consistent pieces of advice that all of our graduates share is this: Be authentic. Deloitte values diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and personalities, and there’s no single mould applicants need to fit.
Jessica Irish from our Audit & Assurance team has some great advice on this, let's hear from her:
Letting your personality, values, and motivations come through helps recruiters and our hiring teams understand where you’ll add value. Plus, this helps you assess whether Deloitte feels like the right fit for you as well.
Applying to Deloitte isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being prepared, curious, and genuine. If you’re ready to kickstart career and make an impact that matters, explore our graduate opportunities and apply now.
