Meet Chloe, Director in Quality & Risk

Our Quality & Risk (Q&R) team work collaboratively with our various Assurance units to provide solutions and guidance to help mitigate risk by elevating the quality of our proposals and contracts.

What do you love about working in Assurance Quality & Risk?

I work with teams across Assurance, which means I have broad exposure to a wide range of interesting clients, from financial services, to the motor industry and not for profits.

I can be talking about financial statement compilations and remediation work one day and indigenous peoples’ strategy and management training the next. I enjoy that every day is different and a chance to learn more about our firm and clients.

My previous work over the last ten or so years focussed on healthcare and medical devices, so something I’m finding a bit different is exposure to the financial services industry and getting to know our clients there.

Tell us about some of the key skills you utilise in your role

In Q&R, you need to be able to step back and think about the bigger picture – what does the client want, can we really deliver that, and what other implications could the work have? These big picture questions need to be combined with an attention to detail that is particularly useful when marking up proposals and engagement letters, ensuring we’re appropriately addressing the risk.

What might a typical day look like for you?

My day might typically be spent working with different Assurance teams to help them manage risk in their client engagements. This includes discussing their and their client’s objectives, brainstorming about risk, and helping them draft proposals and engagement letters.
I’m also usually working on various projects that help address risk across the business. It could be working on our engagement quality review program or streamlining our Q&R processes to make things simpler and more efficient.My work is a real mix of looking at documents and systems, speaking to members of the business team, and collaborating with my fellow Q&R colleagues and other teams like Legal to leverage each others’ knowledge to deliver value for my stakeholders.

What enables you to bring your best self to “work” every day?

​A morning run provides a great start to my day, enabling me to feel energised for what lies ahead. In addition to that, having a collaborative and passionate team and a Partner who values diversity and inclusion and the flexibility that facilitates that.
