What do you love about working in Business Assurance?

Wenda:

Businesses across the globe recognise that Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) is a strategic imperative that enhances brand value, attracts investment, and supports talent management.

I feel privileged to be part of these initiatives, changing the world for the better while delivering value for companies through innovation, productivity, and driving business success.

Ateet:

Working in Business Assurance, I’ve had the privilege to work with excellent individuals who share my passion to innovate a service and be a trailblazer in the industry.

I work in the Algorithm Assurance team, a relatively untapped market globally. Working with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Algorithmic regulations is an exciting landscape to explore. Additionally, part of what fuels this passion is being given the opportunity to present my ideas and opinions without hesitation.

Edwin:

Joining the eProfitFocus Motor Industry Services team is a completely surreal experience. I really enjoy the different people I get to meet, the new skills to integrate into my portfolio, and am comforted by the support of my team and leaders.

[Working in the team] has enabled me to develop an understanding of the back-end of IT system troubleshooting, exploring user journeys, implementing high-level strategies, and perform deep dives into understanding user interactions across various platforms.

Tom:

The beauty of our [Motor Industry Services] team is that there are no typical days, both in the things we do and the way we work. I love data. I’m often using our eProfitFocus data reporting tool to help our clients diagnose areas of their business that are underperforming and create reports and action plans with our automotive experts to help these businesses become best practice operators.

...Part of what fuels this passion is being given the opportunity to present my ideas and opinions without hesitation.

Ateet, Senior Analyst.

Tell us about some of the key skills you utilise in your role

Tom:

I think the skill we use most is critical thinking; constantly questioning our clients and ourselves on how to do things differently. This industry is one that has been relatively reluctant to change in a lot of ways, so we find it important to look elsewhere, think differently and challenge ourselves as much as possible.

Wenda:

My role requires a lot of different skills, including a lot of critical thinking, project management and leadership skills, as well as strong communication. These skills help me develop and execute our ESG strategies, from developing new service offerings to executing and managing ESG engagements.

Through this role, I also have the opportunity to enhance my facilitation, design, and systems thinking skills – which helps a lot in coordinating and collaborating with our diverse stakeholders and topics.

Edwin:

With a never-ending supply of supportive colleagues, I am consistently developing my skillset and foundations in data reporting, financial KPI understanding, experimenting with data visualisations, and deep insight on projects across the platform.

What enables you to bring your ‘best self’ to work every day?

Ateet:

The people and the work we do - every day I’m excited to explore a new opportunity or brainstorm against a new challenge. More than materialistic benefits and perks, I’m encouraged by the fact that my work has purpose and a meaningful impact. I’m using each day to become a better version of myself and I have the autonomy to make my own mistakes and learn from them.

Tom:

Very simple, the people. Our team in Melbourne and nationally is full of wonderful, passionate people who come from such different backgrounds. Everyone values each other’s opinions, recognises exemplary effort and celebrates achievements with gusto.

Deloitte Experience

Deloitte Experience (DX) empowers our people to make choices about where they work based on their client, team, and individual needs and how they connect with their clients and each other.

Our market-leading flexible work policy now includes 12 flexible working options, including wellbeing days, cultural leave, and allowing our people to shape their working day outside of the traditional 9-to-5!

How do you utilise Deloitte’s flexible ways of working in your day-to-day?

Wenda:

I use PlaceFlex, MicroFlex and TimeFlex from time to time at Deloitte. PlaceFlex allows me to do my work at different places, from our Deloitte office, the client site, my home, or even at a hotel during business travels.

I also use MicroFlex and TimeFlex. In my current role, I have a lot of engagements and coordinate with our global team and overseas member firms. The TimeFlex and MicroFlex allow me to balance my work and life schedule. For example, if I have late-night work calls with the global team or other member firms, I can start a bit later or finish a bit earlier the next day.

Edwin:

I utilise PlaceFlex and TimeFlex, designating my time to have specific days in the office and to work from home. I use my days at home to focus on independent actions, whilst being in the office, I focus my attention on ticking off items where I need to collaborate with colleagues.
