Some highlights include:
We have been working closely with a number of clients, industry associations and government departments across Africa on a pro bono basis to provide solutions to the unique challenges presented by national lockdowns. We assisted Namibia’s Department of Finance with ensuring that an Emergency Income Grant effectively reached 749,000 Namibian people in need by verifying the recipient application and payment process against a database.
Our subject matter experts contributed to various business and public sector project management offices (PMO) to model COVID-19 projections, to stem the impact of the lockdown on financial reporting, as well as solutions towards economic stability and recovery. The firm also supported clients by assisting them in virtualising their businesses by reconfiguring cloud software applications and creating free, digital platforms that provide regular news updates and analysis on financial, regulatory and tax information during the COVID-19 crisis. As a contribution to the broader business community, we produced a volume of insights to help companies navigate successfully through the pandemic, making them freely available on our social media channels and via webinars.
Our people have also stepped up to respond to the overwhelming need for help in our local communities, donating time or money, and in some cases producing much needed medical supplies or combatting food insecurity, as well as assisting families with home-based learning. Under the banner of “Impact Every Day”, individuals in our firm, moved by the inequalities that COVID-19 exposed, initiated projects to support the most vulnerable communities in their societies to cope with the upheaval brought on by the virus.
