Leading professional services firm, Deloitte, won two awards in this year’s South African Professional Services Awards (SAPSA) for “Big 4 professional of the year” and “Commerce, law and management young professional of the year.”
The awards, which normally take place at a gala dinner event, were announced via direct communication to the participants last night, because the lockdown regulations have postponed the 2020 awards event indefinitely. Valter Adão, Deloitte Africa’s Chief Digital and Innovation Officer, won the award for “Big 4 professional of the year”, and Harsha Desai, a management consultant at Deloitte’s Consulting Strategy practice, won “Commerce, law and management young professional of the year.”
Individual awards are determined by attributes such as demonstration of leadership skills and changing of paradigms and innovation within the bounds of available resources.
Said Adão, “Winning this award is humbling and greatly appreciated. It’s a gentle reminder of all the talented and inspirational colleagues that I work with every day. This achievement is only possible because of their commitment, and support towards what I do.”Desai said she felt humbled and privileged in being recognised by the firm and the industry. “I thank my family, friends and colleagues for all the support to make this possible. It is my hope to see more young women of different ethnicities occupying this space to lead and develop the future we all deserve.”
Deloitte was also a finalist in the “Big 4 Firm of the Year” and Coenrad Alberts, Energy, Resources & Industrials and Business Development leader at Deloitte Consulting Africa, was a finalist in the “Big 4 professional of the year”.
Sihalo Jordan, Deputy Chief Executive, Deloitte Africa congratulated the winners and said that these accolades demonstrate Deloitte’s ongoing pursuit of excellence and innovation.
