Innovative Access Models in the Private Health Sector

We are living in a pivotal moment in the advancement of healthcare, where scientific development and new technologies are providing new opportunities to prevent, diagnose and treat illnesses. There are some challenges in the current approach in accessing new treatments in private health care and there is a lack of clarity in how innovative treatment is going to be accessed under the NHI.

On Monday, 22 August 2022, Deloitte Africa, in partnership with Johnson & Johnson, hosted a roundtable which discussed access models for innovative products in the private health sector; how innovative treatments could be accessed under the NHI and potential opportunities and approaches.

Deloitte Africa’s Chief Sustainability Officer/Life Sciences and Health Care Industry Leader, Ashleigh Theophanides, facilitated the conversation which comprised of the following guest panel:

  • Aluwani Museisi: Senior Director, Government Affairs & Policy, Sub-Saharan Africa, Johnson & Johnson
  • Dr Ryan Noach: Chief Executive Officer, Discovery Health
  • Bridget McNulty: Co-Founder, Sweet Life
  • Dr Thoko Potelwa: Senior Manager, Clinical Consulting Services, Council for Medical Schemes
