Aired 9 Sept 26 | On 24 June 2026, the European Commission published its EU tax simplification package, made up of two proposals: the direct taxation Omnibus and a recast of the Directive on Administrative Cooperation (DAC). Together they aim to simplify the EU direct tax framework, cut compliance costs (estimated at around EUR 7.9 billion), and boost competitiveness, while preserving existing anti-avoidance safeguards. 

Aired 24 Mar 26 | As Pillar Two appears in increasing numbers of M&A transactions, it is essential to understand and seek protection against Pillar Two Top-up Tax liabilities which can arise. The calculation of Top-up Tax under Pillar Two contains underlying features which are not always well understood. In particular, the difference between Top-up Tax calculated for jurisdiction is often different to Top-up Tax calculated for individual entities in that jurisdiction. This can lead to unexpected liabilities for all parties.
