Experienced subject matter experts will help you gain a deeper understanding of Board dynamics and committees, working with external stakeholders, and NED role responsibilities. Building on your existing strengths and skills you will learn about communicating with authority at a Board level and discover how to successfully position yourself to secure your first NED role.
By the end of the programme, you will have gained additional knowledge, skills and confidence to make a valuable contribution to the board and will be connected with a supportive new peer network. Beyond the programme you will continue to be supported through our Deloitte Academy which offers further learning and development.

The Diversity on Boards Programmes consist of a series of five interactive workshops, facilitated by Deloitte and providing you with the opportunity to engage with experienced board members from some of the UK's largest and most successful organisations. Throughout the programme, you will have access to experts in areas such as corporate communications, crisis management, investor relations, recruitment, media interviews, and public speaking.
You will gain first-hand knowledge and understanding of:
Boardroom dynamicsThe challenges facing senior women or racially diverse leaders in their move to a board position and how to address themThe workings of the Board and sub-committeesWorking effectively with external stakeholders and investorsCommunicating with impact and authority in the boardroomThe NED recruitment process and how to select the right role for you. The value of the peer network is a key aspect of The Diversity on Boards Programmes, as highlighted by previous participants. Throughout the programme, you will have the opportunity to network with peers, including during dedicated networking sessions that are held alongside the workshops. Additionally, there will be a session where participants from both programmes are brought together, providing a valuable opportunity to expand your network and learn from others. Following successful completion, you will be invited to Alumni events where you will meet peers from other cohorts who have completed the programme.
As part of the programme, you will also be offered membership to The Deloitte Academy, which is a by invitation-only-platform. The Deloitte Academy provides members with access to a range of resources and insights related to key board issues, including talent, digital, governance, remuneration, and other challenges and opportunities that boards may face. Through The Deloitte Academy, participants will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions and debates with other board members and subject matter experts, further enhancing their knowledge and skills.
The Women on Boards Programme has been running since 2011, following a number of key independent reviews to support more women on boards. We are delighted that over 380 women have now completed the programme. The Race in the Boardroom Programme was introduced in 2017 to promote racial diversity on UK boards in support of the recommendations from the Parker Tyler Review. The programme was developed in collaboration with the Black British Business Awards and has recently celebrated 100 leaders now completing the programme.
