Personal data

This applies to both permanent/fixed term and contract roles.

The personal data that we may collect or obtain includes your name, contact information (for example, your home address, phone number and email address), and employment and education history (for example, information about your current and former employer(s), the school(s) you have attended and the degree(s) you have attained), certificate and/or license information.

We may collect or obtain such personal data because you give it to us in connection with your application for a position, or the information may be submitted on your behalf in support of a Deloitte position you have applied for or expressed interest in. For instance, to the extent appropriate and in accordance with applicable law, Deloitte may seek additional data and/or verify your personal data by contacting your references, referrer, and other third parties. 

Special category data

At Deloitte, our ambition is to have a more diverse workforce, bringing strong representation of society into the workplace and a diversity of thought, which will drive success; ensuring that every individual is comfortable being themselves, is respected, and can see how they will be successful within Deloitte.

To support our inclusion ambition, we ask applicants and people within our business to share sensitive or special category data with us. This will allow us to monitor the diversity of applicants within our various recruitment and employment processes and make changes or improvements as needed. This applies only to permanent/fixed term roles. We therefore request certain personal data, including gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion and beliefs, health conditions, caring responsibilities, and other questions relating to your socioeconomic background. Please note that this data is not considered as part of our selection process.

Where we process your personal data in connection with one or more of the purposes outlined in the “How we use your personal data” section, we rely on the following lawful basis:

• The processing is necessary for the purposes of a legitimate interest pursued by us: we want to attract and onboard talent into Deloitte.

Where we are processing your special category data for these purposes, we do so under the following condition:

• Substantial public interest, because we want to ensure equality of opportunity of treatment of groups of people; and racial and ethnic diversity at senior levels.

Use of personal data for the recruitment process and recruitment related activities. We will use the personal data that we collect or obtain about you in order to:

• manage your application for employment, including arranging any potential interviews and to make any necessary reasonable adjustments;
• contact you during your candidacy, send you announcements, or request additional information as required;
• assess your suitability for other current and future roles at Deloitte;
• build a relationship with you and learn more about your career interests;
• create a candidate profile for you in our Recruitment System;
• should you be hired by Deloitte, your personal data will be used to fulfil your contract of employment with Deloitte and as permitted by applicable laws, for the duration of your employment and post-employment where appropriate;
• where you have shared your diversity data with us for the purposes of your application, and if your application is successful, we will upload this data into your employee digital file. This data will be used for related purposes as described above and in line with our employee fair processing notice (available to you at onboarding stage). You will be provided with an opt-out option within your application. This is completely optional and this data can be amended or updated at any stage during your tenure, should you wish;
• to ensure fairness for all candidates and comply with industry body standards, our online assessments include measures to detect and prevent cheating, this includes keeping under review metrics on assessment performance and utilising technology to understand if certain parts of an assessment have been shared externally. Candidates exhibiting suspicious behaviour or engaging in cheating may be removed from the assessment process. This reflects our commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards;
• Professional Hire: where you are not successful for the role you originally applied; we will process your personal data using machine learning algorithms to help us match you to alternative roles that may be of interest. You may opt out of this process at any time by contacting ukexperiencedrecruitment@deloitte.co.uk.
  
• Where you have shared your diversity data with us we may use it in aggregate format to improve our recruitment assessment procedures including through analysis of any assessment outcomes. Note that you will not be identified in any such analysis.

Should you be successful in your application, for permanent/fixed term or contract roles, your offer will be subject to various vetting procedures including pre-employment checks, criminal record checks and national security clearance checks if applicable; where such checks are required this will be included in the advertised job description.

In connection with one or more of the purposes outlined in the “How we use your personal data” section above, we may disclose details about you to:

• other members of the Deloitte Network;
• third parties that provide services to us and/or the Deloitte Network, such as website and system hosting, companies providing background screening, employment verification services and government databases where applicable, and entities providing relevant management and support such as statistical modelling to measure the effectiveness of recruitment campaigns;
• competent authorities, including courts and authorities regulating us or another member of the Deloitte Network, in each case to comply with legal or regulatory obligations or requests;
• as part of a corporate transaction, such as a sale, divestiture, reorganisation, merger or acquisition.

We retain personal data as long as is necessary for the fulfilment of the purposes identified above or as otherwise necessary to comply with applicable laws. Where personal data is no longer necessary or relevant for our identified purposes or where you have indicated that you no longer are interested in staying in contact with us, we will securely dispose of your personal data.

Our application process allows you to pull relevant information from social media tools (such as LinkedIn, Indeed, Dropbox or Google Drive) into your online application form. To the extent you choose to feed any personal or other information from such social media tools, this information will be used in accordance with applicable law and this Privacy Notice.
