Entry level apprenticeships in Wales

A popular and hugely successful route for starting your career with Deloitte

Deloitte’s delivery centre in Cardiff first welcomed entry level apprentices in 2015. Since then, the scheme, developed and delivered in partnership with Cardiff and Vale College, has gone from strength to strength, with around 150 apprentices joining our business via this career pathway.

Earn while you learn

Our apprenticeship programmes in Wales offer an opportunity for people to earn while they learn – developing the skills needed for a career in the financial and professional services sector at the same time as gaining the necessary qualifications.

The twelve month entry level apprenticeship spans many aspects of our business, giving apprentices a unique experience of the inner workings of a large international organisation, not solely working with our clients in South Wales.

Apprentices typically spend 80% of their time at work and 20% on the academic aspects. As with all apprenticeships, the apprentices earn while they learn and will be offered a permanent role on successful completion of the relevant qualification.

Starting or changing careers

Our entry level apprentices in Wales join our Cardiff Delivery Centre in one of our specialist teams, and there are a range of different roles you can apply for. What’s more, whilst the majority of apprentices who’ve joined us via this pathway are young people or school leavers, we’ve also welcomed people looking to change or restart their careers.

As an apprentice, you become one of the team and do the same work as your colleagues. You’ll also get extra time and support to help you progress your professional education, which leads to a Level 3 City & Guilds qualification, or an IT qualification depending on your role, that you’ll rely on throughout your career.

On the job experience

Apprentices get on-the-job experience from day one. With tasks including research, compliance and administration, and working with internal teams as well as clients, study time is factored in to the working week, enabling apprentices to attend Cardiff & Vale College during normal working hours and have the support framework to support their success.

Apprentices each have a designated Deloitte mentor, support from college staff in the academic side of the apprenticeship and access to the college’s facilities in its campus which is based in the heart of the Cardiff Financial Services Enterprise Zone.

Cardiff Delivery Centre

Our Cardiff Delivery Centre is a centre of excellence for Deloitte’s centralised business operations. Here we provide the administrative support and an extensive range of essential services our people need to deliver outstanding work for our clients.

The centre is home to teams focused on business administration, project management, analytical and research-type activities, as well as several more specialised services, including IT and risk management, supporting our client facing people across the UK and around the globe.

The range of roles, skills and the scale of activity at the Cardiff centre has resulted in more opportunities outside of traditional accountancy or consultancy type roles for many people who would not previously have considered a career within professional services.

Nearly 150 apprentices have completed the entry level apprenticeship scheme since it was first launched in 2015, some of whom have gone on to win awards such as CAVC Apprentice of the Year, Quality Skills Alliance Apprentice Award Role Model, and Apprentice of the Year in the Welsh Contact Centre Awards.
