James Hilburn

James leads the sustainability and climate practice in Deloitte's Financial Advisory business. In this role James works with corporate and private investors to navigate the risks and opportunities from transitioning to a more sustainable economy.

James has been focused on sustainability for the past 15 years, as both an investor in the energy transition space, and an advisor to M&A and investment teams. He is an expert in helping investors allocate their funding effectively to deliver positive and sustainable stakeholder value.

James has specialised knowledge in energy transition investment and net zero strategy consulting and can advise clients looking to invest along the ESG, sustainability and impact spectrum. A key part of his work involves conducting due diligence to verify that funding is directed towards projects that are consistent with ESG investing principles.
