Gavin is an industry-experienced engineer, having worked in both the Aerospace & Defence sector (with one of the largest FTSE-listed, multinational defence contractors) and Oil & Gas industry (with a small technology advisory start-up focussed on specialist analyses to support supermajor operators) prior to his time at Deloitte.
With over 10 years' experience advising the offshore energy industry and his knowledge of the technological challenges faced by organisations in this space, Gavin has a deep specialist knowledge on optimising claim values and preparation methodologies in the sector, with a particular focus on upstream oil and gas companies. He regularly leads discussions around the impact of R&D claims in the upstream sector in conjunction with the UK Oil Industry Tax committee to provide meaningful updates and legislative interpretations to their corporate membership.
Gavin leads the UK Gi3 team's focus on ESG and sustainability and plays a key role in the UK Tax & Legal and broader firm's ESG strategy. He also co-leads the firm's Proud network in Scotland, an initiative connecting sharing affinity around LGBTQI+ across the member firms.
He graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2011 with a first-class Masters in Aeronautical Engineering.
