Malta, 29 July 2024— Deloitte has announced the appointment of Theresa Ghersci, Matteo Michele Musi and Christopher Bergedahl to the positions of directors within Deloitte Malta, effective 01 June 2024. The newly appointed Directors work in the areas of audit and assurance and tax.
Theresa joined Deloitte Malta’s Audit & Assurance business in 2011, after graduating with a Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) degree. Over the years, Theresa has gained experience in a variety of industries working on and managing statutory audits in the shipping, real estate and igaming industries. Earlier on in her career, Theresa was also seconded to Deloitte London and Luxembourg to work on audits for clients operating in capital markets and investment management. For a number of years, Theresa has formed part of the professional practice unit within Audit & Assurance, where she specialises in audit technical matters relating to Deloitte Malta's audit methodology and local audit regulation. In this role, Theresa deals with audit technical issues across industries as a support to audit teams and is responsible for a number of activities within Deloitte Malta's quality management system. This also includes managing the Malta firm’s internal practice reviews over the past years. Theresa has been a member of the Audit & Assurance committee at the Malta Institute of Accountants since 2020.
Mr. Musi joined the Tax business at Deloitte Malta in 2024 in order to lead its transfer pricing function. Matteo brings with him over 20 years’ experience in advising multinational enterprises, private equity firms and corporate clients on transfer pricing analyses, business restructurings and value chain transformations (principal model), as well as Advance Pricing Agreements (APA), Arbitration Convention Procedures (AC) and Mutual Agreement Procedure (MAP) negotiations. He also has considerable experience in cross-border tax matters.
Mr. Bergedahl joined Deloitte Malta in 2014, having enrolled in its Pathway Programme, under the tutelage of Conrad Cassar Torregiani and Rachel Zarb Cousin. Upon completion of internship, Deloitte Malta sponsored his attendance at Leiden University (the International Tax Center), where he undertook a postgraduate degree in international taxation. He finished first in his class, graduating summa cum laude and taking home the prestigious Loyens & Loeff Award. Upon his return to Malta in January 2018, he commenced his full-time career within the Tax business, specifically assigned to international tax advisory work. He currently occupies the role of Chairperson on the Malta Institute of Taxation's International Tax sub-committee and is the main sponsor of Deloitte Malta's D. Runners Community.
