Changes in the average gross monthly salary

Please be informed that today State Data Agency has announced that the average gross monthly salary (BDU) for 2024 has increased to 2 223 EUR, up from 2,013 EUR in 2023. This change impacts the following areas:

  1. Non-highly qualified foreigners seeking a temporary residence permit on work basis: they must be paid at least 2 223 EUR per month unless they meet specific qualifications and experience criteria.
  2. Quota for temporary residence permits for non-highly qualified foreigners: once the quota has been used, the foreigner can still obtain a permit if the employer pays the salary of at least 2 667.60 EUR (1.2 times the average gross monthly salary), or 2 223 EUR if the foreigner's occupation is included in the list of high value-added occupations in Lithuania.
  3. Blue Card residence permits for highly skilled employees: salary of at least 3 334.50 EUR (1.5 times the average gross monthly salary) is required to hire highly skilled non-EU employees, unless the occupation is included into specific list of high value-added occupations in Lithuania.
