Project overview

In late 2024, Deloitte India collaborated with Phoenix Mills Ltd to transform its HR function through the implementation of Oracle Fusion HCM. The objective was to enhance and streamline HR processes, enabling greater operational efficiency, agility and employee experience. Our engagement began with detailed discovery sessions to understand the client's existing modules, workflows and key operational challenges, laying the foundation for a tailored transformation roadmap.

Key business challenges of the client

  • Manual and time-intensive HR processes that impacted operational efficiency
  • Disparate workforce management and attendance systems resulting in data inconsistencies and operational delays
  • Fragmented recruitment and onboarding processes leading to an inconsistent candidate experience
  • An outdated user interface that affected user adoption and overall productivity
  • Limited access to accurate, real-time HR data, impacting strategic decision-making and reporting
  • Scalability limitations and security risks that constrained future growth and data protection

Most importantly, the need to achieve full utilisation of the HRMS application across the entire hire-to-retire lifecycle, as identified during the system health assessment

Our solution

Our team conducted a series of comprehensive workshops with Phoenix Mills Ltd's HR and IT stakeholders to gain an in-depth understanding of their existing processes, identify operational bottlenecks and evaluate manual activities that were time-consuming and prone to errors. Based on these insights, we designed and implemented a tailored, automation-led solution aligned with Oracle leading practices and the client's business objectives.

The key initiatives included:

  • Automating critical HR processes to reduce manual effort, improve accuracy and enhance operational efficiency
  • Optimising HR workflows to improve productivity and standardise business processes
  • Automating exit and offboarding processes while streamlining increment and incentive management
  • Integrating attendance management with third-party systems to ensure accurate punch-in and punch-out data and improve workforce visibility
  • Implementing Oracle Recruiting Cloud, Integrated Recruitment Booster and Recruitment Application, enabling seamless integration with third-party applications and Microsoft Office for interview scheduling, two-way communication, automated offer management, a seamless onboarding experience and a unified candidate platform
  • Deploying the Redwood User Interface to deliver a modern, intuitive and user-friendly experience, improving usability and adoption across the platform

Impact achieved

  • Transformed the HR landscape through automation, operational efficiency and alignment with global leading practices
  • Improved HR operations, enabling Phoenix Mills Ltd to manage HR activities more efficiently and respond with greater business agility
  • Delivered a seamless Employee Self-Service (ESS) and Manager Self-Service (MSS) experience, supported by enhanced scalability and stronger security controls
