For one of India’s largest private sector banks, timely data is critical to effective customer payment recovery. Collection teams managing credit cards and other loan products need the latest customer information by 8 a.m. to plan their day, from prioritising accounts to scheduling field visits.
But inefficient data processing meant T-1 data was often available much later in the day. As a result, collection agents were forced to work with T-2 data, which limited their ability to act on the latest customer information and created delays in payment recovery
The challenge was compounded by long-running batch processes in downstream systems, which delayed reporting, reconciliation and access to critical customer information.

Deloitte set out to transform the data processing ecosystem from a time-consuming, fragmented process into a faster, scalable and business-ready data platform.
The vision was simple: make critical customer data available by 8 a.m., every day, giving collection teams the information they need before the day begins.
To achieve this, the solution focused on modernising the underlying ETL ecosystem, eliminating processing bottlenecks and creating a scalable architecture capable of supporting growing data volumes and evolving business requirements.
Deloitte conducted a comprehensive assessment of the existing data flow to identify bottlenecks across data ingestion, processing and downstream reporting.
The solution redesigned the process to ingest data directly into central systems, reducing reliance on intermediate source systems that contributed to delays.
At the heart of the transformation was the migration of legacy PL/SQL-based processes to Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS). Existing business logic, data quality rules, dependencies and requirements were analysed to create a scalable data architecture with clearly defined Fact and Dimension models.
An existing Operational Data Store (ODS) was leveraged to efficiently manage transactional and historical data, while ETL workflows were redesigned to maximise parallel processing.
Legacy Oracle DB Links were replaced with native Informatica connectors, improving connectivity, scalability and execution efficiency. Redundant variables, fields and transformation logic were also removed, ensuring that processing focused on relevant, business-critical data.
The result: a streamlined data engine built not just to process data faster, but to make it available when the business needs it most.
