Sunder Iyer is a Partner in the Assurance practice at Deloitte India with over 30 years of experience in capital markets, financial reporting and audit advisory. He has extensive experience supporting companies through IPO readiness, public listings and capital-raising transactions, including Indian IPOs, follow-on offers (rights issues) and private placements. His international capital markets experience spans FCCB listings in Luxembourg and Singapore, potential ADR issuances on US exchanges and an IPO on DIFX in the UAE.
He has also advised clients on the financial reporting and structuring implications of M&A transactions, including financing arrangements, derivatives and private equity investments. Sunder has worked closely with some of the largest global in-house centres and shared service centres in India, assisting them with deal readiness, carve-out financials and internal control frameworks.
Beyond capital markets, Sunder brings deep expertise in financial reporting and CFO advisory. He has assisted leading Indian and multinational companies in implementing accounting frameworks such as Indian GAAP, Ind AS, IFRS and US GAAP across sectors, including infrastructure, FMCG, services, media, industrial manufacturing, banking and telecom.
He has a Master’s degree in Commerce and is an FCA, CWA and CIA. He has contributed significantly to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), including involvement in Ind AS drafting, research publications and guidance notes, and has been an active member of ICAI committees. He has also participated in global and Indian accounting standard-setting processes through comment letters and is a regular speaker at industry forums such as CII and FICCI.
