What inspired you to join Deloitte India’s Risk Advisory practice, specifically Cyber, and what motivates you to continue?

The opportunity to delve into the inner workings of our client businesses and learn how their business strategies intersect with SAP technology is what fascinated me the most about cybersecurity.

The primary motivator and most gratifying aspect of my role in Deloitte India’s Risk Advisory practice is the incredible chance to collaborate with several unique industries, businesses, and projects. This dynamic setting provides numerous opportunities for ongoing learning and professional development. Within Risk Advisory, we continually enhance our knowledge, hone our skills, and evolve as professionals.

What work accomplishments are you most proud of?

Throughout my professional journey, I have made a deliberate commitment to self-improvement. Working in cybersecurity has enabled me to embrace change and demonstrate adaptability in various scenarios. Whether it involves adjusting to new technologies or rapidly mastering unfamiliar processes, I take immense pride in my ability to navigate these transitions. This continuous learning and experience-gaining has equipped me to approach challenges from multiple perspectives.

Another significant achievement I'd like to emphasise is my recent leadership responsibilities under the mentorship of my managers. This invaluable experience provides me with the opportunity to enhance my leadership skills and collaborate effectively within teams. I am genuinely excited about the forthcoming opportunities for growth and development.

Have you faced any roadblocks/challenges in your career, and what advice would you give women/peers facing similar obstacles?

I've been fortunate not to face significant obstacles or difficulties on my journey so far, thanks to the presence of a supportive team of mentors and colleagues. I am profoundly grateful for their guidance and for offering valuable perspectives based on their experiences whenever challenges arise.

My primary advice to all my peers is to consistently show respect toward your team members and cultivate a network of supportive mentors and colleagues. Demonstrating respect contributes positively to the overall dynamics and effectiveness of a team.

A network of mentors and peers ensures you're never alone on your journey. This network assists you in navigating uncertainties, making informed decisions, and fostering personal and professional growth. By embracing respect and nurturing a robust support network, you equip yourself with the tools to thrive in your career and achieve your goals.

Can you talk about the importance of having role models, particularly for women in cyber?

Having a female role model is motivating, as witnessing someone achieve success in your passion area boosts confidence. It conveys a compelling message that you, too, have the potential to excel and flourish in that domain. This sets in motion a cycle of inspiration, encouraging more women to explore careers in cybersecurity. As they forge their paths, they, in turn, become inspirations for the next generation, fostering a continuous cycle of encouragement. Ultimately, this leads to greater diversity, representation, and success for women in the cybersecurity industry.

Why do you think more women should consider a role in Cyber?

Through my journey in this field, I have recognised the incredible potential it offers women seeking continuous growth, intellectual challenges, and a fulfilling career.

Cybersecurity is more than just a job; it is an ongoing voyage of learning and discovery. Given the rapid pace of technological advancements, there's always something new to explore. Each day presents novel challenges that compel us to stretch our limits, acquire fresh skills, and remain vigilant against emerging threats.

For women who relish the art of problem-solving, thrive in critical thinking, and revel in the excitement of staying at the forefront of technology, cybersecurity is an ideal fit. I find it a dynamic field that generously rewards those who can swiftly adapt to changes and innovate creative solutions.
