India’s infrastructure challenge shifts from raising capital to making projects investable

The opportunity lies in aligning capital, risk and delivery

India’s infrastructure ambitions are expanding across digital infrastructure, energy, mobility, transportation and social infrastructure. At the same time, physical and digital systems are becoming increasingly interconnected, changing how infrastructure needs to be planned, financed, delivered, operated and protected.

India’s infrastructure opportunity is becoming more connected

Infrastructure is increasingly operating as a connected system, with digital capabilities supporting physical assets and critical infrastructure becoming more dependent on data, connectivity and technology. This is creating new opportunities for India to use technology to improve infrastructure planning, delivery and operations while strengthening resilience.

Deloitte’s 2026 Future of Infrastructure Survey explores how infrastructure leaders are responding to these changes. The India findings highlight a strong focus on investment, digital adoption, cybersecurity and new sources of capital, alongside challenges around regulation, private-sector participation and project financing.

Strengthening the foundations for infrastructure delivery

Capital alone does not determine whether infrastructure gets built. Regulatory processes, institutional capacity and technology capabilities also shape the pace and scale of delivery.

Building resilient and intelligent infrastructure

: India’s infrastructure priorities are increasingly shaped by cybersecurity, emerging technologies and the need to operate connected systems more effectively.
