India is strengthening its position as the global epicentre for Global Capability Centres (GCCs), evolving beyond cost-efficient delivery into a strategic engine for innovation, digital transformation, and enterprise value creation. This evolution is creating a significant opportunity for Japanese enterprises that are increasingly looking to leverage India’s deep STEM talent, digital maturity and conducive policy ecosystem to scale engineering, AI and cloud capabilities through GCCs.
India accounts for more than half of the GCCs established worldwide and continues to lead in resilient, technology-driven operating models. With the sector’s economic impact projected to reach US$470–600 billion by FY2030, GCCs are evolving into strategic value-creation engines. Against this backdrop, Japanese enterprises are entering a pivotal phase in India’s GCC journey, driven by demand for engineering talent, digital transformation and capability building. As a result, Japanese GCCs are increasingly emerging as high-value hubs that combine Japan’s precision with India’s technology depth, agility and scale.
Japanese enterprises increasingly view India as a strategic destination to address long-term talent and demographic constraints, while gaining access to scalable engineering and digital capabilities in a cost-efficient manner
