As soon as I reach my desk, I start prioritising my tasks for the day. Going through my calendar and emails while jotting down my tasks also helps me develop a structure to balance my deliverables and communications. I ensure to finish at least a few tasks from the to-do list before my mid-morning coffee with my colleagues. Mornings are usually quiet, and thus I tend to tackle tasks that need my utmost attention during this time frame.
I generally have a meeting set up with my project team prior to noon, to plan the action items and to address the hiccups the team is facing. Afternoons are always busy, with numerous client meetings. Balancing client deliverables and business development are the key to a fruitful productive day. My typical day ends at about 5.30 pm.
While I was pursuing my masters in the US, I wanted to take up a role in the Human Capital area. But not being from the typical Human Capital background, it was nearly impossible to even appear for an interview in the area. Deloitte US were hiring for their Human Capital team, and I took my chance and applied for the job, although I was convinced that I would not even be shortlisted. But to my surprise, I got a call for the interview and was hired. During my interview, my interviewer told me that they were impressed with the amount of industry experience I had already, and they could see a potential for me to scale-up - and thus I got the job.Deloitte has helped me grow leaps and bounds in my professional life and supported me immensely in my personal life. From an outsider into the Human Capital world, Deloitte now trusts me to deal with HC clients singularly, which is a real development opportunity for my professional skill-set. The technical forte, the business acumen and the project management methodologies are a few skills that I have honed being with Deloitte all these years. One major thing that I have learned is trusting and understanding the power of people. Networking with colleagues from across the world opens up a plethora of opportunities for you. Deloitte supported me immensely to transition from US to Ireland for personal reasons. I am constantly adapting and learning new skills - each day at work adds to my learning curve.

My advice to someone coming for an interview is to be your authentic self and put your best foot forward. Your originality is embraced and Deloitte values the individuality of its people.
At Deloitte, a person has the choice to select their career trajectory. The first few days will help you understand what trainings, offerings and opportunities Deloitte has to offer and then you can plan how you want to grow within the organisation.
"All achievements have their beginning in an idea." Every day at work I see that we listen to each other's ideas and point of views. We then collaboratively work towards achieving them, if feasible. It is this freedom to think without inhibitions and to be listened to that keeps me motivated. This culture wherein people are considered the biggest asset energizes me to go the extra mile.
