Rob Cary is a specialist executive with Deloitte, where he works with transportation organizations on their most pressing transportation and infrastructure challenges. Prior to joining Deloitte, Cary completed a 30-year career with the Virginia Department of Transportation. During his final four years with the agency, he was appointed as VDOT’s chief deputy commissioner by Virginia’s governor. In that role, he led the agency’s 7,750 men and women in delivering projects and services to the commonwealth’s 8.5 million residents utilizing a US$7.2 billion annual budget. Cary’s experience spans all aspects of transportation including planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance, and administration. He holds a bachelor of science in civil engineering from Virginia Tech and is a professional engineer and a land surveyor.
