Dr Yan (Kathy) Yang is a partner of Sustainability & Climate at Deloitte China. She has a PhD in Economics (on climate policy) from the Australian National University (ANU) and has an extensive sustainability consulting experience in power and new energy, infrastructure, minerals and metals mining, technology, consumables, and finance sectors.
Dr Yang has over twenty years of academic and industrial experience in climate policy and sustainability consulting in Australia and China, and has led global teams across multi-cultural geographical locations to deliver a range of projects involving climate policy, Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) strategy, Sustainability\ESG reporting (A-share, H-share, ISSB IFRS, CSRD ESRS), ESG rating advisory (MSCI, S&P CSA, CDP, Ecovadis), Greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and management, Science-Based Targets (SBTs) and net-zero strategy, climate risk assessment, TCFD climate disclosure, project finance, ESG due diligence, environmental valuation, financial and economic modelling, cost-benefit analysis and technical advisory services across China, Australia, US, Canada, UK, Spain, Greece, Indonesia, UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the Maldives.
Kathy is a frequent speaker at international conferences and forums on energy, environment, sustainability and investment, and also acts as translation peer reviewer for a series of Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI) Sector Standards.
