Junko Watanabe

Deloitte Asia Pacific Deputy Chair | Deloitte Global Board Member

Junko currently serves as a Board Member of Deloitte Asia Pacific, now in her second term. Since June 1, 2022, she has also undertaken the roles of Deputy Chair of Deloitte Asia Pacific and Deloitte Global Board Member. Previously, Junko was a board member of Deloitte Japan for two consecutive terms and co-chaired the global nomination committee, which successfully nominated Joe Ucuzoglu in 2022.

Junko has held co-dean roles in several Deloitte leadership development programs, including the GCJ Academy in Singapore, the Deloitte Asia Pacific Pinnacle program, and the Deloitte Asia Pacific United & Unique programs. She occasionally speaks on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) topics both internally and externally. Effective June 1, 2024, she became the Chair of the DEI Council at Deloitte Asia Pacific.

Her career began at another Big Four firm, where she spent nine years auditing major multinationals. Later, she became the head of planning at a food manufacturing company in Niigata for five years. Since joining Deloitte in 2001, Junko has been involved in accounting, auditing, M&A, and advisory services, focusing on large, complex multinationals and managing significant projects like domestic and international IPOs, and large-scale IFRS advisory projects.

Junko holds a graduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a licensed CPA in the United States, with three years of professional experience in New York during her tenure at another Big Four firm.
