Gregory Verpoorten is the Deloitte Global Indirect Tax Operate Leader and, in the US, is one of the leaders in Deloitte Tax LLP’s Indirect Tax Practice. He specializes in helping companies define their strategy around global indirect tax management, helping implement global processes and technologies, and advises many tax leaders on efficient and effective management of indirect tax obligations worldwide. Gregory started his VAT career in Belgium and was part of the VAT practice of Deloitte Belgium until 2008, when he moved to the US. He has extensive experience serving US-headquartered clients in the Technology, Media & Telecommunications, Consumer Business, and Life Sciences & Health Care industries. Gregory assists US businesses with tailoring their global VAT function to enable efficient VAT compliance, adopt consistent and lean processes, and introduce appropriate technology to manage VAT smoothly on a global scale.
As the Global Indirect Tax Operate Leader, Gregory leads a team of indirect tax professionals from various Deloitte firms globally who are continuously developing the capabilities and value drivers of Deloitte’s indirect tax compliance and Operate offerings. Gregory earned a Master’s degree in law from the University of Antwerp and is a UK Chartered Tax Adviser. He is a regular speaker on global VAT management to both internal and external audiences.
