Douglas is renowned for his leadership and dedication, but mainly for exercising inclusive leadership by giving voice to those he leads. He is charismatic and has empathy for everyone around him.

Douglas Lopes is the current Chair of Deloitte Brazil Board and Deloitte Brazil Chief Ethics Officer. He took over both positions in June 2024. Prior to becoming chair, he was a board member for four years, and was a Tax partner, leading Indirect Tax. 

He graduated in Accounting and Law.

Douglas has more than 32 years of experience in Indirect Tax and Customs matters, advising clients on Indirect Tax (ICMS, IPI and ISS), Revenue Tax (PIS and COFINS), Import Tax, tax planning, VAT implementation, compliance reviews, audits, spin-offs, consolidation of companies and assessment of resulting tax impacts and effects on financial statements. He is currently specializing and has been a spokesperson for the tax reform that is taking place in Brazil.

He has participated in several projects involving review procedures related to Indirect and Customs taxes, revision of tax burdens, tax planning, tax reform and VAT cash saving solutions, working on site location projects, M&A transactions services, ERP implementation projects, compliance and tax technology and has provided courses and seminars on tax related issues, given interviews and written articles for several magazines and newspapers.

Douglas lives in Brazil with his wife, his adult daughter who is a medical student, and a teenage son who is a student. He enjoys playing soccer, tennis and beach tennis, as well as watching live sport, especially soccer.
