The Olympic Games Paris 1900 marked a significant moment when female athletes competed for the very first time. This year, the Olympic Games will return to Paris with gender parity on the field of play.

OLYMPIC GAMES

At Paris 1900, the IOC opened up global sport competition to female athletes. 22 female athletes competed across 5 events, and while their numbers were small, their impact was monumental.

A globalist feminist movement was championing female representation in sport, and in 1972, the United States passed the historic Title IX. Australia passed the Sex Discrimination Act in 1984 and numerous Education Acts have been passed across developed countries to prevent gender-based discrimination in school sport.

The IOC and IPC continued to recognise their responsibility diversify the field of play and their influence to change global sport.

IN 1991, THE IOC RULED THAT

WOMEN'S SPORT TODAY

The growth in women’s sport in the 124 years between Paris 1900 and Paris 2024 is incredible.

In 2024, global revenue from women’s elite sport is expected to surpass $1BN. Women's collegiate sport competitions are being played to sold out crowds in the USA. And this summer, Paris 2024 will be the first Olympic Games with gender parity on the field of play.
