The use of data in social services development is crucial for creating more effective, efficient, and responsive social services support systems. By analyzing data, service providers can identify trends, assess community and neighborhood needs, and tailor interventions to better serve vulnerable populations. Data-driven decision-making enhances resource allocation, improves service delivery, and helps measure the impact of programs. Additionally, predictive analytics can anticipate challenges, enabling proactive solutions.

Delegates will learn about two experiences unique in their own contexts. For the past 20 years, Finland’s social care has been working on developing information management to obtain better information that can be used to create better services. So, in 2018, the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare launched Sosmeta, which provides a structured way to document data related to the assessment of users’ needs. At present the focus is on training social welfare organizations in structured recording. At the local level, the Barcelona County Council has developed a systematic analysis of indicators at the neighborhood level to better understand local social needs and design targeted programs.
