What interested you the most about Deloitte and your role – What made you apply for the Trainee position?

I applied to Deloitte because I saw it as a place to grow professionally with a clear career path. I had also heard positive feedback from alumni and friends who had worked at Deloitte about interesting projects and a supportive work environment, which made it an easy choice. I discovered internal audit through a recommendation, as I wasn't familiar with the function beforehand.

What kind of projects have you had the opportunity to work on? What has been your role in those?

Because internal audit projects are short in nature, I have been able to participate in engagements across varying topics and industries. My focus has been on cyber security, information systems, and AI – areas that have proven to be the right track for me. We work in small teams where fieldwork is often conducted in pairs. Initially, my role was largely supportive, facilitating engagements and analyzing and drafting materials. As I have gained experience, I have been given greater responsibility in completing more consultative tasks alongside client communications.

What has been the best thing about working at Deloitte?

Colleagues and variety of work. Whether it's a fellow trainee, teammate, or Deloittee, you know you'll get along. We have regular morning coffees with our trainee cohort, company-organised events, self-organised activities, and numerous hobby clubs covering everything from running and beach volleyball to our house band. Regarding work, the variety of topics, industries, and clients keeps tasks interesting and requires continuous learning.

In which direction would you like to develop after the Trainee period?

One of the main reasons I joined Deloitte was the clear development and career path it offers. I intend to follow that path, deepening my expertise in my chosen domains while increasingly taking on responsibilities.

How have you grown in your role since starting your traineeship?

I believe the best way to learn is by doing. For that strategy to work, you need a baseline of tools and support to succeed. I feel I have been given both the support and the space to experiment, which has enabled me to grow into my current role and toward the next one. Taking accountability for success motivates me to deliver quality work, which requires being proactive and staying on top of my work at all times.

In what ways has the flexibility in your work schedule contributed to your productivity and job satisfaction?

I have never had to worry about someone monitoring when and where I work. Most meetings can be attended remotely, and outside of those, I am free to organise my work in a way that best suits me and my engagements. Trust and open communication are essential to maintaining a work-life balance.
