Deloitte Cyprus announced that as of 1 June 2021, Pieris Markou has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer. Markou succeeds Christis Christoforou, who led Deloitte for the past 20 years. The new appointment follows Christoforou’s decision to retire and following a robust governance consultation process involving all partners, Pieris Markou was appointed as CEO.
Commenting on his new role, Markou said: “It is with a great sense of pride and responsibility that I take on the leadership of an organisation with so much history and success in the market, with shared values that connect our professionals and guide our collective behaviour. I am taking on this new role at a time when markets across the world are faced with significant challenges due to the pandemic. However, working together with the partners and our people at Deloitte, we are ready to respond to any challenge and to continue playing a leading role in the economic developments of our region, by supporting companies, the economy and our community”.
Deloitte is among the leading professional services firms in Cyprus, providing audit & assurance, consulting, financial advisory, risk advisory, tax and related services, as well as a complete range of services to international business, with more than 750 partners and staff and is part of Deloitte North South Europe.
“By building on the solid foundations of over 60 years of presence on the island, the breadth of our people’s experience and expertise, as well as the knowhow of our global network, we will continue with our multidisciplinary activity in the market. I am confident about the prospects and future success of Deloitte, as an employer of choice for new talents and first choice for clients, while at the same time continuing to make an impact that matters to our community.
In closing, I would like to extend our appreciation and gratitute to our good friend, Christis Christoforou, for his significant contribution to all the great achievements of our firm in the 20 years that he led Deloitte Cyprus”, continued Markou.
