NEW YORK, 9 April 2024 — Deloitte today announced an expansion of its alliance with Google Cloud to enhance software development and accelerate developer productivity by increasing its adoption of Gemini for Google Cloud. Deloitte will train its own engineers on how to leverage Gemini Code Assist and other AI-powered tools to better the speed, quality and time-to-value from client software projects.
“As part of our newly stood up Deloitte Engineering practice, we are steadfast in getting our developers’ hands on the latest technologies to help organisations transform how they operate their business,” said Matte Lacey, chief commercial officer for the Alphabet Google alliance, Deloitte UK. “Deloitte has committed to train several thousand developers and data scientists in Gemini Code Assist over the next 12 months, to help our clients improve their operational productivity and efficiency.”
Using Gemini Code Assist will allow developers to obtain assistance from the tool throughout the software development lifecycle, thereby enabling engineers to improve the speed and quality of several steps in their workflows. It will assist developers with each step in the form of suggesting real-time code completion, code quality review, generation of code snippets, performance of code conversion, generating test scripts and documenting code.
Additionally, Deloitte will explore using Gemini models across industries using natively multimodal capabilities and long context windows. Deloitte is already incorporating Gemini models into its Deloitte AI Studio platform as well as its AI Tech Navigator and CampFire assets. Deloitte anticipates potential impact in software development, marketing workflows, knowledge search and video analysis in industries such as media and entertainment, consumer and financial services.
"Generative AI can improve developer productivity at every stage of the software delivery lifecycle, such as providing code generation or mitigating issues,” said Victor Morales, vice president of global system integrators partnerships, Google Cloud. “With Gemini Code Assist, Deloitte’s developers can help clients more quickly build and optimise their software projects on Google Cloud.”
Deloitte and Google Cloud continue to make advancements in the cloud and AI space across industries. This announcement comes on the heels of Deloitte and Google Cloud helping clients leverage AI and geospatial data to take action on sustainability as well as helping consumer organisations transform operations with Generative AI.
This year, Deloitte received five Partner of the Year awards from Google Cloud, recognised in Global Social Impact, Global Industry Solutions, Sales Partner of the Year (North America), Service Partner of the Year (EMEA) and Security Partner of the Year.
