Navigating CBAM: lessons learnt & next challenges

Why participate?

During the transitional phase of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), started in October 2023 and ending in 2026, traders are facing many unexpected challenges. Although they have to report embedded emissions in their imports without any financial adjustment, several difficulties have been encountered both from a technical and a strategical point of view.

As an importer, you are expected to already have submitted the first CBAM report for Q4/2023. Nevertheless, our experience shows that this has not been the case for many companies. To ensure your compliance and to make your business in order for next quarter avoiding fines, immediate action is required, starting from collecting data and develop the right internal strategy.

During this webinar, we will share with you some key insights we gained during the first stage of CBAM and some expected future developments impacting your business

We’ll discuss:

  • Lessons learnt from the submission of the first CBAM report, including an analysis of the most recent regulatory developments and the impact that the Belgian CBAM legislation will have on Belgian businesses
  • CBAM timelines and what is expected from you as a trader in the coming months/years
  • Emission calculation and the best way to strategically face the next phase• CBAM Compliance Manager and how digital tools can simplify the reporting challenges
  • Practical testimony
  • Q&A
