A study by Deloitte Forensic

The 2024 Deloitte APAC Integrity Survey offers a fascinating glimpse into the minds of 46 integrity leaders from diverse industries in the public and private sectors. These leaders, representing compliance, investigations, legal, risk and internal audit functions, shared their perspectives through our comprehensive digital questionnaire.

The survey explores critical themes such as the prevention and detection of unethical behavior, in-depth analysis of investigation functions and the evolving role of technology. It sheds light on the ethical landscape of organisations across the Asia-Pacific region, highlighting commendable practices and areas of concern.

Key findings include:

  • Significant Gaps in Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption Frameworks: Many multinational companies lack comprehensive frameworks, exposing themselves to potential reputational and financial risks.
  • Lack of Periodic Fraud Risk Assessments: This increases vulnerability to unforeseen risks.
  • Insights into Investigative Practices: Revealing strengths and gaps in reporting structures, key performance indicators and essential skills within investigation functions, particularly in forensic accounting and corporate intelligence.
  • Limited Adoption of Advanced Technologies: Despite growing interest, the uptake of AI and machine learning in investigative processes remains limited.

With regulatory bodies in the APAC region intensifying their scrutiny on ethical practices, this survey serves as a compelling call to action. Organisations must bolster their integrity frameworks, cultivate a culture of compliance and embrace technological advancements to navigate the evolving landscape of corporate integrity successfully.
