Our Ignite Program, in affiliation with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), offers opportunities for emerging, current, or transitioning Olympians and Paralympians to kick-start their professional careers off the field.

About the program

Our Ignite Program supports athletes in balancing their sporting commitments while building a professional career off the field.  

As a Deloitte professional, you can expect to work on high-impact, meaningful and purpose-led projects. You’ll get significant client exposure and multiple networking opportunities with peers, leaders, and the industry through your hands-on project work.

Athletes will receive thorough onboarding assistance, continuous training, and regular support from an Athlete Liaison Officer to ensure they are well-prepared and supported.

The below will help you understand if you are eligible for this program. Our Ignite Program is for emerging, current, or transitioning athletes who are:  

  • A permanent resident or citizen of Australia or a New Zealand citizen 
  • Competing in a sport that is represented at the next immediate Summer or Winter Olympic or Paralympic Games  
  • Currently categorised by their National Sporting Organisation (NSO) as Podium, Podium Potential, Podium Ready, Representative or Developing within the AIS National Athlete Categorisation Framework (NACF) 
  • Have completed a university qualification or are due to complete your studies within the next 6 months and are ready to join the program. We accept people from all degree backgrounds.

What are the key application dates? 
The program is open year-round. 

How many athletes are accepted each year?  
Up to 10 eligible athletes are included in the program at any time. We encourage all athletes who meet the eligibility to apply.  

What is the duration of the program? 
If successful, you’ll be joining us as a permanent employee.

What if my sport is not an Olympic or Paralympic sport?
Currently, Ignite is only applicable for athletes from Olympic or Paralympic sports that are included in the next immediate Summer or Winter Games (i.e. Milano Cortina 2026 or Los Angeles 2028).

What is the time commitment for the Ignite Employment Athlete Program?  
Ignite has been designed explicitly by athletes for athletes. It allows sufficient flexibility to enable ongoing training and competition to coexist with work and study commitments. There is no minimum time commitment applicable for your role at Deloitte, but it is recommended that athletes commit no less than 7.5 hours per week to their role. 

What do we look for? 
We're interested in athletes who are either about to graduate or have already graduated with degrees across every discipline, suitable for roles at all levels across our business.

We are particularly interested if you've had diverse experiences and are passionate about being part of a business that thrives on innovation, opportunity, collaboration, and inclusion.
